Saw a runaway on a Chieftain tank engine moons ago and the whole pack was dancing down the workshop

The best way to stop the runaway engine is blocking air intake pipe. |

Easier said than done when the engine bay is full of smoke, the engine is revving its balls off and your expecting something to go bang any second. Jules |

To stop oil induced diesel runaway, all you need to do is cut a boost pipe, it doesn't matter which one. This will stop the fuel (getting to the engine), and stop the high pressure air at the same time.

Had this happen to me on a Spainish motorway when I was driving a Renault Trafic ,I managed to stop engine by blocking the air intake I was lucky as all I had to have fitted was a new turbo and an oil change đđ´ó §ó ˘ó łó Łó ´ó ż |
