I’m not surprised, as our engines give virtually identical fuel pressure figures & mine has no such starting issues. I’m certain it will turn out to be something relatively simple in the end. Lets hope your ‘experts’ can sort it by the end of the week! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal. 171037Km as of 09/05/22 Superchips Bluefin Flash Nanocom Evo II (also sold) |

Hi, Faulty wiring loomin Fuel pump assembly and or temperature sensor in the tank. The tank sensor is on the same circuit as the engine sensor and fuel gauge and engine temperature gauge. ALso check the tank wiring loom near the prop-shaft, a known fault. |

I think that's where I'd headed is to scope the injectors , but you'd need a good engine to compare against. If you weren't so far 'up north' it would keep us both occupied for a morning. Since you get such a long crank it won't need anything fancy , just any old oscilloscope would do.

A minor observation, if I may. The FL2 glow plugs come on a temp of 5 degrees Centigrade, not 0 deg C. This temp is based on the water coolant temp sensor. Freelander 2 HSE. Santorini Black. Roof Rack, Running Board, Auto. |
