Possibly the end of the cam shaft has broken off that drives the HP pump.

There was a problem with early camshafts breaking at the pump drive.

What andyk159 said….2007 model known for it. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Hi previous owner of mine had that happen 07 reg garage didn't diagnos it correctly fitted new injectors new hp fuel pump then did the exhaust cam shaft cost him over £2000
