Do you have bluetooth? This is also a possible candidate causing the issue. See https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/user...etwork.pdf. this document describes a "reset" of the MOST ring by removing RD1 for a while. If you remove it the power to all MOST modules is removed, if you insert it again each module will power up and a "reset" sequence will start. If this solves your problem I don't know.

The modules connected to the MOST ring are: radio front panel, satnav screen, satnav dvd player, amplifier, bluetooth module, DAB module, radio/cd player. The ring is used for transporting audio and control data between modules.

Each module has to receive the signal from the previous module in the ring and send it to the next module in the ring. If a module is broken it will not send the signal to the next module and the ring is broken, nothing connected to the ring will work anymore. A broken module can be found by bypassing one module at the time with a shunt which connects the 2 optical fibers so the signal continues.

The beeps of the parking sensors come out of the speakers, if the MOST ring is broken these will not beep anymore because the amplifier driving the speakers is also part of the ring.

Netherlands 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 Sport Auto Barolo Black

Thank you p_gill, I know MOST well because I used to work on several projects that also used it for distributing audio, our systems are not used in cars but in government buildings, stadiums, shopping centers, cruise ships etc. Loops in our systems are a lot longer than in cars.

From my experience MOST is fine when all devices in the loop work properly and all optical cables are connected correctly but is a PITA when a device is not working as it should or a cable is damaged, bent too tight or not connected correctly.

SUCCESS!

Hi all
Just to let you know I’ve ‘looped’ the Bluetooth module and sat nav and radio have come back to life
I’ve left the loop on the Bluetooth will that be a problem?
Thanks so much for all the advice and help I couldn’t have done it without you

Cheers

Rob

Rob,

Congratulations.

I will give you my opinion about "I’ve left the loop on the Bluetooth will that be a problem?"

1. for my 2008 LR2 I disabled the Bluetooth Module back in august

2. I used a MOST loop, its still there today

3. And I disconnected the Grey (or is it Gray) wiring harness, its still disconnected today

4. My LR2 is very happy in this configuration, except the Bluetooth doesn't work

The important step is #3 I did this because the module is always connected to the battery and it puts itself in a low power Sleep Mode. If the module is broken then it may not go into the sleep mode. This will be similar to a glove box light that doesn't turn off. If you drive for 30 minutes or more every day you won't notice anything but if you leave the LR2 for a week or two you may come back and it won't start due to a flat battery.

For my LR2 I disconnected the Grey connector and installed the loop back

Having said that it is you LR2 and you can do what you want.

The connector that I am referring to can be seen in this picture it is next to the Orange fiber optic MOST connection
(Both connections are connected to the Bluetooth Module in this picture)

Take care

Paul
