Docking station

Hi sorry i am new here i have looked through as much as i can to hopefully not double up on any threads, my key dock is shot it wont release the key totally my best way is to trick it to think a key is in.. I have tried all i have read on here new battery, new fob case wd40 in it so i think i need a new one but the only info i can find for an easy part to fit is that it has to go to landrover to be programed is there a home diagnostics that would do this or another way around it.

Many thanks matt

I am going to ask the simple but most obvious Q, is the vehicle in P when you try to remove the key?

According to the OP, his FL2 is a manual. There is no P!

Not having the car in say, first gear & the hand brake on, maybe. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

two components here , the Dock and the Key.
Have you tried the 'second' key ?

or

strange one here, try a key NOT for your vehicle, it should 'hold' and 'release' the key, BUT NOT start the engine.

Long shot here but have you tried a silicone spray ? WD40 isn’t a lubricant.

Does the starter battery have decent voltage. A lot of things stop working with a tired starter battery. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

This happed to me once. I locked vehicle with spare fobb and then as I unlocked the key just released. Never before and never since. Whilst I keep spare key home I never go anywhere without the spare fobb in vehicle.

I switched off ignition & fobb did not release, ignition would not work . I remember radio stayed on. I was home so I got spare fobb. Since then spare stays in car. ( I have a spare key to get in )
