Locks not working?

Hi there, hoping someone might be able to shed some light on an issue we’ve been having with my wife’s car, it started the other day where the passenger side door didn’t unlock via the remote and the mirror also didn’t unfold. The mirror sorted itself out when I used the mirror buttons to fold and unfold them.
This has now escalated to the mirror not working alongside both passenger side doors not unlocking either.
Does anyone have any experience of this before? I know the door actuators are prone to going but to have the whole of one side of the car mirror and locks go makes me think it could be a wiring fault?
Any help would be much appreciated as I currently can’t afford to pay a garage to fault find this.
Cheers

I would start with the usual disconnect the battery for a while then try them again.

Mine was playing up after I disconnected & reconnected the battery; driver door not unlocking when all the others did. Was perfectly OK before I disconnected the battery.
Performed a "hard reset":
1)Disconnected NEG terminal connections and made sure they couldnt move and touch the battery terminal by sliding a piece of plywood between.
2)Connected the negative wiring to the positive wiring. I used a jump lead as I couldnt get the bunch of negative wires to easily reach the positive ones.
3)Left it for a 5 minutes then reconnected the neg wires back to the Neg battery terminal.

This allows capacitors to fully discharge and any volatile memory memory is lost in all the electronic units. The electronics then reboot. (thats my limited understanding of what happens).
Anyway the central locking now works properly.
I had to reset the windows but thats easy.
You will need to adjust the clock and the date setting too (I did). Jules

Thanks for the tips, I took the door card off yesterday to take a look and the control unit was fried so picking up a new one this morning and fingers crossed that will solve all the issues

Annoyingly the problem has reoccurred.
This is a new problem and has only occurred since I disconnected the battery. This may be a coincidence but it's odd.

The driver's door randomly refuses to unlock when the fob unlock button is pressed. I can hear actuators working inside the door but the lock lever next to the door release handle doesn't move.
The only way to open the driver's door is get inside and flip the lock lever and open the door.
Minutes later the door will lock and unlock as it should.
All the other doors are working normally.

Any thoughts as to what is likely to be failing/jamming, before I start taking the door card off etc? Jules

@jules, you might be lucky & find that fixes it temporarily but I can just about guarantee that the brushes in the lock actuator motors are shot. I recently replaced both driver door lock motors & l/h rear passenger side the same. It has cured all sorts of locking/unlocking issues I’d been having for the past couple of years. Bought the motors from aliexpress, not expensive & not that difficult to swap out either. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Hi Badger
Are these the ones?

https://www.aliexpress.com/af/freelander2-...1022001951

Not sure why the "universal" is so much cheaper - they appear the same. Is it simply because the expensive one is labelled for "JLR"

Also is it one motor per lock mechanism or two ? Jules

Hi jules,

These are the ones I bought.

I selected the option with 2 of each type.

So replacing the control unit has made no difference, tried the hard reset and again nothing, anyone got any ideas?
Is the next step to replace door actuators and mirror?

Not mirror but I would say the actuator.

Just entered this thread.
My 2014 F2 NSR door opens when the car is locked and the OSR door doesn't open when unlocked.
Does this suggest the same actuator problem?
Don't think I'm up to replacement myself, so does that mean taking a main dealer 'hit'?!
