PTU/ sleeve issue FR2

Hi all first post and hoping someone can shed some light on my issue, recently my 2012 Freelander started developing a noise from the front and then I discovered that it had lost 4wd.
Today I stripped the front transfer box out and discovered that the splines on the input shaft of the transfer box were worn and that the output coupling on the g/box side were also worn, I tried to remove the coupling but it doesn't seem to want to move is there a special way to take these couplings off or is it a g/box stripdown job? Thanks in advance folks

It would help if your signature indicated what type of Freelander you have - diesel / petrol, Manual / auto - you get the idea.
I had an auto, and know that the sleeve just pulled out of the gearbox. Just being a relative word, if your car is a 2006, then it's been there for a long time. the fretting that wears the unlubricated splines causes a fine powder that fills the gearbox splines and can make it more difficult to remove.

Hi sorry it's a 2012 diesel manual, doesn't show any signs of moving atall

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

The best advice is from Austen at Bell Engineering. Sad to say, but if the splines on the output shaft on the gearbox is worn, you will be needing a recon unit + new sleeve at least. Contact Bell Engineering for advice.
