Battery good? Obviously needs a good charge, but this car also doesn't do well with an older, tired battery. In Finland you probably need to replace it every four years.

Will try resetting as advised, thanks. Didn’t jumpstart with cables so shouldn’t be the battery. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

HI, the I6 is a Volvo engine with Ford logos on it. It was also fitted in a Volvo S80, Volvo V70. If the battery is showing over nine volts at start, then the Key Module is a known failure part. My 2008 FL2 had this problem, which turned out to be the Crash Sensor had actioned and shut down the electrics. A tricky one to trace and fix. Turned out to be a faulty wire on the left hand inner wing near the fuse box. |

Does the “beep” after switching ignition on indicate anything? Instead of starting, it sounds a beep. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

Starter motor. If the signal isn't found by the ecu, then you get a beep and nothing else. I had this happen to me on my i6. Bought a new battery but it still did the same.Fitted an extra earth lead, still the same. Changed the starter motor - fired up immediately. Brushes in the starter motor were virtually all worn away.

Good to know. The starters will wear out on these cars. |
