Insurance cost

Can i ask please about insurance premiums.
Been with ADRIAN FLUX for years.
NCB going at least 30 years.
Changing from 2002 Disco 2 auto insurance cost for comprehensive £285.
Just been quoted from AF for 2010 FL2 HSE auto £999.
Nearly had a heart attack.
How does this compare with people on here
thanks

Jim A.

Recently renewed 2011 fl2 auto £220 with hastings direct but several were close on price. Similar ncd.

Suggest you take a look at the comparison websites and take it from there, forget loyalty to one company.

Mine, renewed last November with Hastings Direct was £245. Hastings have been ok with me for a number of years but I totally agree with binning any notion of loyalty unless it works in your favour rather than theirs.

Yes it always pays to shop around,
I ditched LV this year as they would not come down from a massive increase, so
I'm now currently with Hastings........
we'll see what happens next year. Rolling Eyes

We have all seen the question on insurance asking have you been declined insurance

Answer yes to this and most companies will not quote, they are all aware of this clause, so if you don't fit their profile rather than say no they just give a quote that they know will be beaten easily by other companies who are happy with your profile.

As an aside I thought I heard the other day that insurance companies were being stopped from offering the best deals to new customers only, if so it's about time. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Also try to get your quotes at 21 Days before your renewal, its suggested its the best timing.

and thats with £150 xs and 8000 miles Whistle

Thumbs Up .

Thumbs Up

Personally if I was mid term and having a car change I would stick with my existing company until renewal time
But
have a little check around as if many £££ difference worth cancelling existing policy and taking a new one

In 21 days time that is Whistle Laughing

Thumbs Up .

Only dealings i have ever had with insurance companies is renewal.

Insurance quotes on here are meaningless with giving the excess charge and the annual estimated mileage. Please add those to the posts.

Dont know your actual details Jim but taking it that you have sold one car and replaced it with the FL2 then would think that is just a change of vehicle on your existing policy with an adjustment of the annual premium charged pro-rata for the remaining period with a possible admin charge on top. (£25ish?)

if you have not sold the other car yet, then yes a new policy is required for your new FL2 and the NCB can not be used twice so would give a high premium Question

What I can confirm is I have had 3 cars within a one year policy a couple of years back, I did the change of vehicle on line and charged no admin just paid the pro-rata difference for one and had a refund for the other.

Have you spoke with with the Forum sponsors they are very good

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Below is what I pay for my SD4 Metro 2014
Aged 79 (and a quarter)
8K miles

The policy is quite high spec with onward taxi travel, private healthcare, and legal protection cover.
Please note - I have separate AA Breakdown Cover and a LR Extended Warranty.

All in all it is costing a lot to achieve relatively worry free motoring.

Saga Car Insurance - Comprehensive - including Fixed Price £620.50
Legal Protection
Accident Healthcare
No Claim Discount protected

Optional cover
Increased Personal Accident £13.00
Replacement Car Extension for theft/total loss £20.00

Your excesses (the amount you pay towards a claim)
Accidental damage £300.00
Fire and theft £150.00
Broken glass (replacement) £75.00
Broken glass (non-approved repairer) £25.00
Broken glass (approved repairer) £0.00

PS Does anyone know how I can insure against being stuck in the holiday motorway jams that happen around here every weekend for most of the year. It took me over 3 hours to travel the 70 miles back from Powderham Castle (near Exeter) last Friday. Sat Nav and other On-line Traffic Apps do not help because it sends hundreds of other 'lost' cars on diversions around problems into minor (unsuitable) roads to join you if you use the 'Divert' feature. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)
