2013 SD4 Occasional Lumpy Gear Change

Finally found a decent HSE Lux and took the plunge and bought it. Love how it drives and it is much quieter and refined than my old 2009 TD4. The only niggle I have with it is an occasional lumpy shift between 3 and 4th under load. Not enough to jolt me in my seat but noticeable. My old TD4 auto box was silky smooth. Is this normal for the SD4 auto box or potentially the early signs of a solenoid fault? It is intermittent and mainly occurs when the car is slowing and shifting from 4th to 3rd. Any advice would be much appreciated.

How many miles?

They really do need an oil change before 75,000 and 50,000 miles is better.
Mine started to kick when towing at 120,000 miles, an oil change made it much better, but by 180,000 miles it did on occasion come back when towing. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

It was waaay to late for a partial change.
Doing a full change without specialist equipment is easy enough if a little time consuming. when you drop the oil only about a litre comes out. You then top up, start the engine run through the gears while stationary. stop the engine and repeat. While the gearbox holds 7-8 litres it took 11-12 litres before the black stinking fluid coming out was bright red.
IMHO don't bother with the getting up to temperature between top ups, just measure the amount coming out and put that much back.

There are lots of detailed write ups here on how to do the change, just make sure that you take out the fill plug BEFORE you take out the drain plug. It's really annoying to find out that you have dropped out transmission oil, have no way of getting fresh oil in and the car is now disabled. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
