In the near future I'm going to swap my manifold for a de-flapped one.

Do you mean the engine mount? Do you have an image of the part? |

It's the bit between the throttle valve and the manifold, the bit where the EGR pipe joins. It's screwed to the manifold with 4 torx security screws.

Just checked for you mine is a T30 Torx Bit. That is on the throttle body to inlet manifold. |

Thank you, the T30's (3 off) are between the two alloy parts. The ones into the plastic manifold itself (4 off) I have now found out are the 5 pointed torx security type.

This seems very poor if they can break off & the damage that can be done.

I found those Torx bolts were not very tight and unscrewed quite easily with some mole grips.

I did find a set of the 5 pointed drivers for not too much money, so they have been added to the tool kit

Hi , Regarding swirl flaps , I have removed them , the 2007 had 135k miles and all was ok , Maybe it had been cleaned or replaced before my ownership . I removed the flaps (eventually ) and did away with the brass rod , re-assembled everything and blanked off the vacuum pipe before reattaching it . I agree with the previous post , buy new seals and glow plugs , as it would be difficult to replace the glow plugs with the manifold in place .
