Hi,
My 2.2 auto is sulking. I have restricted performance and a sensor 1 code fault. As she is 10 yrs I thought EGR. It made sense with rough cold starting until I checked out your forum and the battery health.
So, I swapped out the EGR as I had already bought it, cleaned the cooler chamber cleared the fault code and had the EGR registered to the car.

All felt good for about 11 seconds ......then back to restricted performance once the engine is up to temperature. It behaves until then.

I need to change sensor 1, which I think is the probe under the EGR. Can it be doe without removing the EGR a second time?

Anyone got hand hints I would appreciate them.

I hoped a happy EGR = a happy sensor 1. Sadly it doesn't.

Thanks guys, £176 sensor 1collected today. Thanks for the heads up regarding sensor 2 coming out in sympathy with sensor 1. Hopefully sensor 2 will will behave. Sensor 2 is around £80 if it does fail.

I am thinking of taking the cat off and working at a bench. I really cannot imaging the sensor coming out without a fight. Anyone tried this?

Sensor not that difficult to remove as long as you have an O2 sensor socket. Can be done with everything in place from under the car. Sensor torqued to 45nm. Give it a spray with release oil and leave it to soak in and it will come out easy. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.

Thanks for the advice. I now have a happy FL2, back to full power, no fault codes.

In the end it was sensor 1, which is under the EGR and actually behaved itself and came off after a good dose of penetrating spray. Duckworth Land Rover in Boston have been brilliant when ordering and Kings Garage for walking me through the sensors. It took a while before the penny dropped and the right parts were ordered and the wrong ones exchanged.

The Bonus is the O2 sensor is not required and will go back.

So EGR replaced (not required but I had already bought it), EGR chamber cleaned, EGR pipe and inlet started to clog so caught in time. Genuine LR sensor1 (£80) behaving perfectly and the old one coming out without to much of a fight

Result!

02 sensor 1 is just downstream of the turbo. I've ringed it red in this picture.
