Hi, can anybody tell me what difference there would be between a tow bar for a 2013freelander and a 2010? |

I don't imagine there would be any physical difference in the metal work, the basic shell of the car didn't change, the upgrades or face-lift are cosmetic items, bumpers, trim etc. The electrical loom may well differ. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I took my dealer fitted tow bar (only a couple of years old) off of my MY10 (59) and fitted it to the replacement 2013 (63) car. The electrics didn’t transfer though - pre 2013 cars are non plug & play where 2013 and later are fully plug & play. Different modules and connections to car. My Land Rover branded tow bar needed precisely the same small cut-out to the rear bumper skirt on the newer car as on the earlier car but the whole job was a very easy DIY thing. |

Ive used the same Witter tow bar (removal ball with flange) on all 3 of my FL2s (2007 to 2014). Had it stripped and repainted at each change over. The Witter required no cutting nor the bumper to be removed.

Our 13 reg had a Landrover badged towbar and twin electrics fitted not long before we bought it. It has no cuts to the rear valence. Towbar is not detachable but is held in by only two bolts so I took it out and will only be 5mins to put it back in when needed. |

So not to walk into the tow ball. Common sense isn't very common.

Had a tow bar on all my cars for last 30 years, don't ever remember walking into one of them. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Looks smarter when off than like a stretched out pig tail when on. I have towed all sorts since I was nine and now getting towards 69 and 5 minutes or less to put 2 bolts in isn't a problem . I would have preferred a detachable like our Disco 3 was or a Deployable if I could afford a new Velar or similar but taking two bolts out or in is the only inconvenience that I can think of with the Freelander. All landrovers are unbeatable in their particular class for towing Well over two ton per track on the trailer.

That's why I have a removable to ball - keep it in the boot alongside the spare tyre. Jules |

Quite correct Jules. Tidy Ours is 2 bolt removal but would have been better like yours. It was prob put on new just before it was sold.

Never bothers me being able to see a towbar on the back, it's a 4x4, they are designed for towing!

Agree most cars look better without the towbar stuck out and the FL2 does seem to stick out quite a way Remember swmbo catching her leg on our towbar when I had not put the cover back on turned out it was my fault she got grease on her leg for not putting the cover on and not hers for walking into it And hopefully you did Not go on the Public highway with that load . my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars! But its now gone way up Norf |
