Could that be why the Official Camel Freelander 1 had a detachable winch which fitted to either the front or the rear winch brackets ??

The reason they never get used is that they are at the wrong end. One drives into a problem & the solution is to back out, not get further into the mess.

We used to do a lot of laning with a D2 with a winch, nearly always 2 of us with me at the back, if first car was struggling I could pull them back and if they got through and I was struggling I could pull forward Thumbs Up
although as said very rarely used Rolling Eyes as if it was that bad we had probably turned around well before hand. Tread Lightly Thumbs Up

Used it more for removing trees/hedges at home Laughing

Thumbs Up .
my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars!
But its now gone way up Norf

Recently a property around the corner from us was replacing all the roof tiles. With all the rain we have had their truck with 3 tonnes of old tiles was bogged in the soft lawn.

They needed a bit of help, it was a bit uphill & in a slightly difficult angled location. The builders were a bit embarrassed about the situation that a little Land Rover pulls the truck out.

Cost them a case of beer instead of $300. They said they will be buying a tow rope!

I guess, Lightwater, that if you ever did get stuck, with all the gear you have, you could just park up, and live there until the summer came and the ground dried up Smile

BTW, I think that Disco firing the air to air may have been photoshopped as they don't usually keep the front landing gear down when attacking Rolling with laughter just an opinion though, I could be wrong Whistle Rolling with laughter

Agree, I believe there maybe a little bit of artistic licence.

The giveaway is the red 13kg high lift jack on the roof. Not the most useful piece of equipment as you can easily damage the bodywork. See, payload again, I bet it's over weight, just doesn't make sense to carry pointless equipment! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
