Just had the glove box damper break, cheap part you would think. Genuine one for a Freelander 2 (LR039802) usually about £25. However there appears to be a national if not global shortage of some LR parts. If you want to be put on back order all the usual suppliers (including some of the ones on here) will get you one, eventually for £150.
I have managed to track one down for £29 plus tax. Unfortunately it has to come from Lithuania.
It's not urgent so don't mind the wait. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.

No I didn't. When I've looked before for other parts, I often find that the used parts are the same price as new, so why would you buy unless you were desperate.

Your problem might be different but I had the damper break a few Freelanders ago and fixed it with a cable tie.

It wouldn't normally bother me, I'd be quite happy to leave it off. My concern is it could come crashing down on the wife's knees whilst sitting in the passenger side. Then I would be in trouble. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
