Hi all, Contemplating a change of vehicle from my trusty but old Merc SLK to a more practical FL2. The knees aren't what they used to be & low seated sports cars aren't as easy to get in to as they once were.

Add to that, living in a small village with many pot holes and the FL2 seems to fit more with my current needs.

Just gotta find one now. Still gathering info at the moment as I'm unlikely to buy one until July and I figure I can learn a lot form existing owners before I take the plunge.

2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Fuji White

Hello All!

Just wanted to say hi after i have been lurking for a while. The forum has already been a massive help to me.

Recently purchased a MY13 HSE Lux and loving it so far. Think the aircon compressor is on the way out though! Laughing but never mind.

I'm fairly handy with the spanners so I'm hoping I will be able to contribute some useful tips in time.

Anyway, hello and happy motoring!

Hugh

Hi all, just saying hello. I purchased a 2011 TD4 GS recently for my wife to use delivering Hermes parcels in and around Llanwrtyd Wells. We both enjoy the Freelander and I have removed the rear seats to increse capacity. A lot of the addresses around here are remote farms for which the ground clearance and 4WD are essential. Our silver TD4 has 154k on the clock with FSH, including the big 150k service with new cam belt and a new clutch. It is a bit untidy around the edges but it was bought as a working vehicle, a job it is excelling at.

" including the big 150k service with new cam belt and a new clutch. "

at the time on delivery to the first customer, 150K/10yr was true.
BUT later LR changed their minds .........now 110K (i think) and 7yrs.

Search the forum there are loads of post on this subject.

Thanks - the important thing is that it has been done with detailed receipts to back it up.

Scared new owner who knows too much, possibly?

Back in the day, I was very heavily involved in Dealer Training for Freelander 2 launch - mostly non-technical, but also technical training for non-technical staff (ie. I know nothing, when it comes to service and repairs).

I loved the i6 from day one and was hugely impressed with its off-road capability and on-road civilisation, so I just pulled the trigger on one, after 14 years of procrastination... (Actually, have an Isuzu Trooper V6 petrol that I love to bits and have owned since nearly new 20 years ago, but now needs a lot of work and I no longer need such a large car and 15mpg fuel bills).

I've already scared myself silly reading threads about various transmission and electronics failures, but this one seems in pretty good nick, so fingers crossed!

Hopefully I can be of some use to people who want to know how things are supposed to work, when they are working, but probably be the other way around when things go wrong, as, although I have an automotive engineering degree, I am clueless when it comes to dirty rusty components that don't do what they are supposed to do. Very Happy

Picture not my car, but of the launch training in Spain - and yes, that is an i6 Cool

Hi All,

I have been wandering around the forum for the past couple of months and finally have decided to become a member as a prospective Freelander 2 owner Smile Great to be a part of this place with all of you!!

I am looking to buy a 2007 - 2009 Freelander 2 with a mileage of 125k or less. I am still trying to take in all the information I can from the forum as I have no previous experience with the Freelander or a Land Rover in general, so any advice is more than welcome!
