key Fob (late model) battery / shell replacement

My keb fob (late model) was looking very tatty - the rubber was coming off. So I bought a replacement shell from ebay for less than £10.
EDIT: That came with the 2 plastic shell halves and the metal end plate but no Landrover logo.

To dismantle shell, slide side piece and remove

Remove emergency door key and use it in the rectangular hole to prize open the case - it comes apart easily - no need for a screwdriver. You can now replace the battery.

To remove circuit board: carefully prize it off from the two pins that are heat rivetted. The pins often break (arrowed) but it does not matter if you're replacing the shell.

Place circuit board into new shell. I put a blob from a hot glue gun into the pins.

Then reassemble.

Hope this is useful. (Sorry about the orientation - it seems to be a quirk of this website.) Jules

A quick search indicates the genuine part LR078922 is about £20 delivered and I think its only the two plastic halves.

The metal end piece is sold separately. Jules

It is the plastic section. You put the old metal section onto the new plastic.

There was no Land Rover logo on the rear of the plastic.

I can't remember what I paid Land Rover other that to say it was about au$20 & thought I should have got another spare. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
