Anyone had any experience of above rear diff, as thinking I might need one?

Bell have been reconditioning Freelander (both 1 and 2) drive line components for a decade or more, and have a good reputation for quality. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I had a recon Rear Diff and Haldex put in by Bell in July 2019. No problems with them. Also very good courteous diagnosis and service.

Actually it only took Austin less than a minute to the diagnose the haldex and ten minutes for the diff. He had to rule out any bearing problems first so just a quick drive up and down the lane.

I also had a recon Rear Diff and Haldex service bu Austin in September 2019. Great service, very friendly.

Austin took a couple of minutes to the diagnose the diff and suggested that he would have a look at the haldex at the same time. The diff was replaced and Austin serviced the haldex

As we had booked the visit in advance we had the use of a loan car for the few hours he suggested to have a look round the local sites. Definitely would recommend.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. Have not contacted, Austin yet, will need a B&B as in, North Norfolk.
Don't know that area at all so Pam & I would probably spend a couple of days there.

There are some lovey places to visit near Bells, Bewdley, Worcester, the Malvern Hills, the list goes on and on. Have a look at the local tourist information website. If you have never been you wont be disappointed just make sure you ask for a loan cat.

Bewdley is quite a nice small town on the banks of the Severn. It gets pretty busy in the Summer under normal conditions. Bear in mind it can flood when river levels are up.
There are lot’s of B&B to pick from. The museum is worth a look. Takes an hour or two and is free!
There’s a nice cafe right across the road.
You’re also very handy for West Midlands Safari Park if you wanted to risk the courtesy car 😏
I must add I have no connection to any of the above. Just used the museum and cafe when my FL 2 was with Austen.

Another up vote for Bell. Diff exchanged following a test drive and the fault demonstrated. Austen also serviced the Haldex while it was all apart. I was allowed to watch and Austen explained everything as he worked.

I took my first FL1 to Austen back in 2006 for a Viscous coupling at his old place, I then took an Evoque to him for Haldex service at his current location.
Cant recommend him enough, thoroughly nice guy and provides excellent service without ripping you off. You know you will get a much better job out of him than almost anyone else.

I grew up not far from Bewdley, and my brother literally lives just down the road from there now. As has been said there are plenty of B&B around (when they are open), In fact I think there a couple of pubs on the main road above Austens place that have rooms.
The list of things to do round there is fairly endless, all depends on what you like to do. Severn Valley Steam Railway, Safari Park, Riverside walks and Cafe's, woodland walks and cafes, museums, even shopping if you want to venture to Kidderminster (10 mins drive) or Worcester (20 mins) or Tenbury Wells for some market town shops.

Just spoken to, Austin, he has diagnosed, "Haldex Pump", is the fault, so trip off!
I'll report back once fitted.

It does seem that MY '13 on cars are disproportionately affected (in a bad way) by Haldex pump failure. Mine failed at only 35K kms. (22k miles). My local indie simply puts it down to poor quality. Let's hope the replacement does better. driving on the right side

Just out of curiosity what symptoms are you experiencing, as It's been diagnosed as a faulty Haldex pump.
