United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Zermatt Silver
Vibrates like it’s got AA’s

My fathers Freelander has a vibration which I can only assume is coming from the auto box (2010)

Happens when in a higher gear up hill generally around 1600/1900 rpm. When the box changes up to the next gear it stops. Non issues driving round town etc.

Had a search and there is some threads saying torque converter issues...but nothing definite.

If it is TC would a flush fix it?

A flush didn't fix mine. I had to have a recon TC put in and a gearbox refurb wish I had done that in the first place. Its a question of bits of gunge from the worn out TC will still be left in the box.

Sounds very much like the TC to me. I had the same symptoms diagnosed by a local Fedauto specialist. TC out, refurbished and refitted, no problems since.

Can you let me know how much it cost for the torque converter and gearbox refurb?

Torque converter removed, reconditioned and refitted plus an oil change cost me £1,235. I thought that was quite reasonable, its a lot of work.
