Wondering if its worth changing the sensor unit to a newer one, as mine seems to stop working after a month or two each time I reset it, are the newer ones any different to the older model year ones?

I've read this thread through, but can't find out how to remove the sensor casing from the roof lining, does it just pull off, or are there hidden clips/tags to press or whatever?
Someone else asked earlier on in the post but no-one answered that I could see, although lots of people seem to have removed it to unplug and re-plug the green connector, can someone please tell me how does it come off?
I just don't want to damage something by heaving on it.................................

Well I just tried mine and sure enough didn't work, pulled sensor right down and it came off to answer question above will try putting a pic on.Some debris came out unplugged the green connector and blew through the openings on outside of sensor and sprayed a bit of WD in connection. Put it all back and it works, not very sensitive had to wave about right near the sensor,it's the first time I've heard the alarm.

Romania 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Barolo Black

hello. one month ago i got myself a 2007 freelander 2. i was disappointed to realise after reading this topic that i do not have volumetric alarm and just the horn sounds when the doors/ bonnet open. at night the car isn't parked near my house so i do not know if someone breaks into it. i had installed a gsm tracker that can text me if the doors are opened but i need to make the connection with the alarm so when it goes off it warns me by phone.
so my question is next..in case the alarm goes off, which wire from anywhere inside the car can deliver a continuos signal so that i connect it with my tracker? i know..it's a tough one Smile. thank you Smile

is there more to this problem than meets the eye, I wonder? All these cases with identical poor connections? Maybe something in the alarm gets hung up & disconnecting/reconnecting the sensors resets it. Just a thought. Has anyone inspected the connectors closely for corrosion or dirt? 1978 Laverda Jota. As far as I know the volumetric alarm is deactivated with the the sunroof in an open position.

So ensure you have closed the sunroof completely during testing!

I asume it is also deactivated when one of the door windows are open. But I have not tested that

Fixed mine today, connection was clean.
Just removed, blew it out and reconnected.
Job done.

Late addition to this thread but we had the beeps when unlocking our newly purchased 2014 Freelander. The ex Landrover technician at the dealer said it is an audible warning that identifies the “volumetric sensor” is not functioning.
I pulled it from the head lining ,did the unplug and replug of the green connector, blew out dry debris and it cured it. No more beeps ! And the alarm now sounds if you double lock and something moves in the car.
Hope this helps

I know this is an old post, but following the advice here, I have just emptied out half a trees worth of leaves from my sensor after previously replacing the bonnet catch. Thanks again everyone Very Happy
