What viscosity PAG oil to use?

Denso website states that incorrect PAG oil is the second most common factor responsible for aircon compressor failure. In light of that, does anyone know what type/viscosity PAG oil 2009 diesel freelander 2 takes, and who makes the compressor (couldn’t find any labels on the unit)?

Thanks for the tip not to mix the PAG oil with PAO

Note this is for the 3.2 not the diesel

However it shows you where to look

My 2008 3.2 Has a Valeo Compressor

Oil is ZXL 100 PG

Note: this is a PAG

Some research indicates that this is a PAG 46 and not a PAG 100

My 2008 LR2 is still running the original Valeo compressor

My 2010 S80 3.2 with the same engine had a Sanden compressor and it failed about a year ago

I replaced the Sanden compressor with a Valeo unit.

The new Valeo unit for my S80 did come filled with oil, no extra oil was added to the system

Thanks

Paul

Thanks Paul. I was also able to find MAHL manual that gives some insight:

Freelander II 2.2 D TD4 2006 – R134a 730 WSH-M1C231-B PAO 68 or PAG ISO 46 200
Freelander II 3.2 i 2006 – R134a 730 WSH-M1C231-B PAO 68 or PAG ISO 46 150

To get this image I did the following

1. I opened your gallery

2. I found the picture and I clicked on it (a new page opens)

3. I copied all of the text from the box shown below with the green arrow

4. I pasted that text in this message

Hopefully this helps

Paul

PS I can't believe that they allowed compressors with PAO and PAG at the same time depending on the compressor manufacturer (That was an unforced error, I love my Land Rover but things like this can really upset customers)

This is a really good discussion, thanks for pointing this out.
