The engine management light came up to read Turbo overboost. Had a look and found first of all a plug off near the intake manifold (been off a while, by the look of it.) well closer to the front, difficult to describe , but can take a pic.

First Post sounds like a bit of a "what the hell...". I think you'll need some photos of you wanted some input on that so the experts can give you some thoughts.

Ok I am able to confusion in my story line . So the MAF was cleaned 3wks ago and didn’t change situation. In fact it has probably worsened when I repaired the sensor hose tail and a plug was replaced I suspect this asI said has been broken and removed sometime ago. Not by me I may add . I’ll add a couple of photos if I can .

MAF now fitted , better response on kick down, but hard to handle in traffic , throttle response anc auto misbehaving. Perhaps this is the throttle body , unfortunately the mot is booked tomorrow, however this may not affect the test as long as emissions are ok. |

I don’t think I answered your querie properly. The picture is my throttle body stripped down once I dismantled and removed the cover , and that is and was how I found it. I am kicking myself that I could have got the gear kit to replace it, however I was under a bit of pressure on Thursday, as Ihad to test my Rr instead of the booked in Freelander and the Range Rover also let me down , so didn’t read your texts in time , doesn’t make much difference now as nothing is going to happen till Mon, |

I just wondered what position you found the throttle butterfly in and how freely it moved when you stripped down the throttle body. The teeth get stripped when the butterfly gets jammed by carbon buildup. Note that the main reason for the throttle is to ensure complete shutdown of the engine. A Diesel engine doesn’t need a throttle to control fuel/air mixture like a petrol engine. |

Throttle body now changed but still erratic surging , black smoke , so too much air? , could be a hose somewhere split , any help appreciated as to where the usual pipes might be that go . Turbo hose or intake hose . There is a mess of oil been for a long time 2 yrs maybe? At the bottom of the radiator and I assume the transmission matrix. |
