Half way through Cambelt/waterpump change i hit a present left by a previous owner/mechanic - a completely rounded bolt on my starter motor (lower bolt so the hardest to get to of course ). So while i'm waiting for my bolt extrator sockets with the cutting teeth to arrive i'm going over the car doing little jobs and checking other stuff.

Alternator pulley does rotate in both directions but it should only drive the alternator one way. What you have to do is hold the alternator shaft & then see if it rotates in each direction. Usually it seizes & tries to turn the shaft both ways. If you need a new one, part no. is 535005910. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.
