My Freelander 2 XS 2013 Sat Nav not working

Hi! I am new to this site. I found it while googling to find a solution to the above. The car started out thinking it was in Belgium when it was in London, have since sorted out to set to UK, however it now thinks it's 4 miles away from where it is. It also has a line through the GPS tab. Any ideas? Land Rover told me to bring it in when I told them about Belgium, they really weren't helpful, £200 for a check then fix would be on top. They didn't bother telling me about the button that you flick from Belgium to UK. Any help would be appreciated. Does it sound like the GPS antenna needs replacing or just needs a rejig? I have tried resetting to default but nothing happens. Thank you for any help.

I had a Tiguan that went exactly that way. It was finding 2 from 15 satellites. Bought a new Fakra aerial from the bay. It was a little magnetic box with a long cable. I managed to find a place to put it behind the radio on a metal bracket. Problem instantly sorted and all for about 7 quid. Dealer wanted me to buy £120 latest disc before he would even look at it then probably £50 an hour after that. No chance.

When was the last time that it was working?
Have you had any other battery / electronic problems?
I had some intermittent problems with my Sat Nav, I don't think it was initiating properly when battery was low. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Mines out of date, doesn't recognise when I'm on the new, NDR, 4 miles from home just comes up as a field. If I could update for £25 I'd do it, otherwise I'll live with it.

Dear All people that have replied to my original post and made comments/advice. I saw none of these until now. Sorry. The site doesn’t prompt me when there is a new post. The problem has now got worse, the touch screen doesn’t work. The satnav after my service will not stop giving directions, still in Belgium. At service, garage suggested new touch screen £1,350! Anyone know of any coders or what type of electronics person i would need? I thought that could be a good starting point.

Thanks for your reply. It flicked back a month or so after my original post then was intermittent between Brussels snd London for a while and now continuously in Brussels. Added screen problem now so can’t switch it off.

It might be worth looking at some of the Android alternatives that are starting to appear.

I expect more chinese Android versions to be released in future.

The simple answer is to buy a Garmin or Tomtom - at least these will have upgraded maps every three months (for free) I doubt that yours has ever been updated so will have Sept 2012 data maps. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone

Wot CJOver said. TomTom regulary update maps, speed cameras, speedlimits, electric charging points, places of interest and also show filling stations, car parks and has lots of useful features that LR satnavs either don't have, don't work or are way out of date.

I have been in touch with my local LR garage and he has sent me a JLR document - LTB00642v3 - Navigation System Defaults To A Regional Location _ TOPIx
Trouble is i can't seem to load the link.
Anyway the upshot is that i have the permanent issue and the repairs to the sat nav would cost £1178+vat for remanufactured unit or £1882 + vat for new unit. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

I think the Tom Tom is definitely the way to go.
I have tried to copy & past the document below:-

A customer may express a concern that the navigation system reverts to a default location
for their region. There are 2 failure modes, either intermittent or permanent as described
below.
• Intermittent

played.
2. On entering the Navigation after start-up, the vehicle icon shows itself in the region
default, for example Belgium. Once GPS signal is acquired the vehicle icon jumps back to
the actual location and the voice notification "Welcome to the [country name]" is played.
3. All other features of the Navigation system work normally.

A software issue or hard fault with the IAM.
Suggested Customer Concern Code - A59.

Excuse me perhaps asking a silly question but if LR have reported this as a known problem to their dealers, at what point does it become a free repair to the customer?
