Just got my first FL2 - 09MY SE TD4.
Problems with alarm and key.
Key 1 works, Key 2 flat.
Alarm intermittently goes off - caught the bonnet open message one time so suspect I need to make a catch change.
My question relates to the red alarm light on the dash. In the manual it says that you get single / double flash when you set the alarm with 1 or 2 presses. However my red light single flashes all the time the car is unlocked and the engine is not on. Then when I set the alarm I get 2 flashes after one press and 3 flashes after 2 presses. Is this a problem and does the alarm system need resetting? Can’t find anything in the manual to explain it.

Hi Mate IIRC the red light relates to the immobiliser and not the actual alarm,
I've had the same problem this month and I've just replace the battery back up alarm
and so for all good, the BBA on mine was dated as 2009!

Thanks for the tip - where did you get that done (I’m in Deal, Kent so very close to you!).

The BBA you could do yourself, it's located behind the battery two 10mm nuts and an
electrical connector, I paid £25 for mine (other prices are available)
I had trouble getting the connector apart (arthritis in hands) so my spanner man did this
when in for a service.
I assume you're happy it's not the bonnet catch?

I’ve ordered the bonnet catch and I’ll put it on first. I was trying to work out why my lights flash differently from the manual and the BBA might be why.

All I had was intermittent alarm (fast high pitch) and hazard lights.
most times the sun was not directly on the bonnet so it was
my decision to do the BBA first......and so far so good.

Bonnet alarm switch will be the alarm prob you can check by disconnecting the wires and joining them then see if you get any more trouble

HI, I replaced the "Battery Back up alarm" it appears they are prone
to fail possibly with age,
it was a straight forward job, so for me the easiest route to my problem and
so far so good. I got a the complete unit on line.
approx £25.
