Should be almost as good as my petrol Freelander https://m.drive.com.au/car-review/2013-lan...79225.html but you would want the 184kW 365Nm engine
'While Land Rover’s official figure for the 0-100kmh sprint is a respectable 8.8 seconds, it feels quicker than that. We timed it for several runs using our stopwatch and it cracked the 100kmh mark in just 7.96 seconds. Consistently.'

We had a DS180 2016 that did dump fuel into the sump, it would raise the "oil level" from midway between the marks to above maximum in about 10-12,000 miles. I am an engineer, so 20,000+ miles between services to me sounds like marketing hype, so I was changing the oil and filter every 10-11,000 miles.

For me the car did everything I needed, it shrugged off farm tracks, towed the caravan well, was comfortable over long journeys (a genuinely nice place to be), and in the event of something going badly wrong I felt that my family and I would walk away from an accident - the biggest downside was the colour, despite my protestations we bought a grey car, who would choose a depressing non-colour like grey. Shocked

Anyway the dealer pointed out that at the mileage we were at we should either trade-in the car or keep her until the wheels actually fell off. I do 25-28,000 miles a year and once you get to 60,000 it's a logical decision, because the value of a car drops off the edge of a cliff at 70,000. So I asked him to find me an "upgrade", we now have a red 2018 HSE with the 240bhp engine, same engine just more power. The oil is dropping slightly between services and she doesn't do a forced regeneration every other day (you could see the fuel economy dip during regeneration), to be honest the only way I notice a (passive) regeneration is when the stop/start doesn't.

I am changing the oil every 10,000 miles and am going to keep this one until I can no longer drive (15 years or 300,000 miles?).
Be wary though the 240 insurance bracket is quite a bit higher than the 180 that we traded up from. Fuel economy is a couple of mpg worse, but that could be the grin factor associated with a lead right foot.

When I picked up the car, there was a "supercharger whine", turns out the balance shaft bearings were shot at 9,000 miles, the balance shafts and bearings were changed for modified ones without fuss by Bury LR, and now at 18,000 miles are as sweet as a nut.

My advice is more to do with the 5-7seat issue. 7 seats to most users are a complete waste of time, and they occupy the space were the spare wheel should be. There is the option of an underslung spare, but only if specified at build time, and this sits were the deployable towbar fits. So if you tow a van buy a 5 seater, or you will end up doing like many do, and ripping out the rear seats to carry the space saver spare. oh and the rear seats weigh an absolute ton, so get help when you do rip them out. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

My neighbour bought a new DS in autumn 2018 and in less than 5k miles had to have the engine out and balance shafts replaced and he didn't just drive it around town.
This has not filled me with confidence for the longevity of the Ingenium engine. It's OK to have extended warranty but who pays for the extra oil changes? and can you be sure that the extra oil changes have been done promptly (or at all) when you buy used? For me Euro 6 is the end of the road for diesel. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

According to the Technician I was talking to, they modified the balance shaft bearings for 2018, which was a mistake, they fail, there was a new modified bearing/balance shaft that they were fitting which usually works, if the block isn't perfect they fail rapidly again at which point LR pay for a new engine.

Me I'm hoping they fail again and I get a new engine at say 40k.

My reasoning being I hope to keep this one as it will be the last of the non-hybrids, so why not fit a free new engine part way through ownership.

Why non-hybrid? they are unique lithium batteries (not exactly AAA), so in say six or seven years you will be going cap (wallet) in hand to LR and they can charge whatever they like, and they do like to charge.

Sad bit is mine were stuffed at 9k, replaced at 13k, and are absolutely silent at 19k Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

OP as I'm sure you'll have seen on the DS forum there seems to be a great deal more positive feedback about the MK2 DS across all engines given all the issues with the MK1 the forum has been very very quiet comparatively for people complaining about their MK2 cars.

Looks like the MK2 is what they should have launched in the first place rather than the MK1.

I'm relieved to see they have improved the seats and offering adjustable lumbar support across many more of the range.

It might be enough to tempt me back with either a P200 or PHEV when my current car is 3-4 years old. I got rid of my MK1 DS after a year or so due to issues with it.
