Your mpg sounds about right (for a 2 ton automatic 4x4 brick with minimal aerodynamics)

You can get a remap which will give you a marginal increase, but I am not sure if you will ever recover the cost of the remap with the increased MPG.

We get about 36mpg on a long steady 130 mile drive up the M6. If cruising at 50mph will do 40mpg but that only happens if there are miles & miles of average speed cameras. Jules |

The MPG you are getting is normal for an SD4. Remap will be a waste of money and increase insurance costs and reduce reliability. You don't buy a Freelander for economy. |

Start stopping, high speed, heavy load, roof rack wind resistance, will all add to reduced fuel efficiency.

We regularly got 40 to 41 mpg on a journey from North west of Glasgow to Dover, needing only to stop for lunch, no fuel. We then refilled in France, the mpg then dropped to 38 mpg for the rest of the holiday, French fuel or air temperature? The cruise setting was the same, the car wasvsomewhat heavier on the return journey my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

If you push the seats forward a bit you can squeeze in another 60 litres of wine!

I bought my 2012 Freelander in Sydney two years ago and drove the Nullarbor across to Perth. What a great trip. And the car just loved it. 6 cylinders so as someone on here said you don't buy a Freelander for economy.

My car uses petrol, nevertheless, crossing the Nullarbor with 500kg payload, second spare wheel, fuel, sand tracks, awning & solar panels on roof.

I have just surprised myself with (for me) a very good mpg.
