Short journeys around town get about 20MPG.

40 mile commute to work on mostly motorway and rural roads about 30-35 MPG.

So many variables means MPG will be different for everyone.
How fast you drive, how quickly you accelerate and brake, flat roads or lots of hills, traffic conditions.

Just been to Blackpool for a week, had some days out to the Lake district etc. I used the premium diesel for the whole journey there & back & the dash is saying 41.1 average. Thats the best I have ever had. I did a 120 mile there & 120 mile back recently & got just over 37 MPG. I dont know how accurate the dash thing is but if its fairly near what its saying then I am very happy with that given the comfort & security.

Hi all newbie to FL2 and forum
I am in South Africa , got a 2010 HSE td4 auto for about a week now and I am getting 13l/100kms which is about 22mpg. Is this normal or should I have the car checked, admittedly most of the driving was short distances.

That sounds about right I get a bit less than that but mine is all stop start and short trips I honestly wouldn’t worry.

Sounds right for short journeys and should increase on long runs. I hope you didn’t buy a FL2 for economy, because they aren’t economic.

Bought on the basis of consumption data online, knew it will be heavier than the data ,but not to the extent it is

My long term average is 33.55mpg. On a long run I can get over 40!

I also read the claims for 40mpg and dismissed it! Living in north Devon, not too many long runs except when towing the caravan never got near it. Until I went up to Heathrow in January and did a check............ 42.3 mpg!  MY 2013 SD GS Auto

I get 40+ mpg cruising along the M6.

Push harder and the mpg really drops off.


Normally get 34-36mpg around home. Jules

About 24 mpg for us towing the van, sometimes a little less.

My old TD5 Disco only got 26mpg, and that was before I attached the caravan! Jules

Do people with a V8 petrol do that much less mpg when towing, or does it not drop that much with a big engine ?

"heavy" !!
THe FL2 is quite light compared to modern hybrid SUVs.
The Disco Sport PHEV is 2.2 tonnes due to having a battery and an ICE, which goes someway to explain the poor MPG on motorways. Jules
