Think I look a bit silly parking the tractor at Asda, John Deere probably cost more than a fl2 |

Good for you . There is a lot of life left in a ten or 12 year old Diesel engine given the average miles driven in the U.K. The 160ps engine fitted to the earlier car is a good one . If it’s had a 10 year cam belt change , it won’t be the engine that causes the car to go to the great scrapyard in the sky . The non DPF motor is definitely the one to go for if you want a local commuter. As far a price goes don’t pay too much . You should be a able to get a mechanically sound car in the £3 -£5k range . One other thing , I’d go for the auto every time on the Freelander . I certainly would not put a lot of money into an any old diesel car at the moment as anything under euro 6 is potentially going to attract “clean air zone charging” in cities that are looking at this . You could also do a lot worse than looking for a low mileage 08 on Forester or Legacy Outback , both those cars will fulfil your needs have petrol or diesel options and are legendary for reliability . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

With the limited miles you're planning a diesel maybe doesn't make sense at all? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
