Spent a few hours last week adding rivet detail to this Focke Wulf 190 . Would have also filled and re-scribed the panel lines too, but really couldn't be bothered. Anyone like to hazard a guess as to the scale ?

Are you sure that is the correct number of rivets! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Nope, not even close. My rivet tool has 3 different heads and the largest was used on this '190.
As far as the rivets are concerned, I just copied another kit - and not too closely either. It's just an exercise in visual interest rather than being 100% accurate.
They started life as large 1/18 scale toys. However, it soon became clear that their scale shape was pretty accurate , despite actual detail being abysmal, which led to more adults buying them to "accurize" them further by scratchbuilding and accurate paint jobs. The manufacturers then started to realise this was now becoming a collectors market rather than kids toys and the second generation became more accurate and less toy like. They are now commanding stupid money. An aircraft that would normally have cost £40-60, would now fetch anything from £2-300 upwards and some command eye watering prices.

Below is a 1st generation vs 2nd generation . The 1st looking very toy-like, the second, more like a scale model than a toy.

I bought my 1/18 Focke Wulf donkey's years ago. It's a 1st generation, meaning I have to put in tons of work to get it to more accurately represent a scale model.
