Interesting in the 'Test' each vehicle, of which there was 8 in convoy, were all equipped with, 3rd party (not standard fit) sand ladders and one vehicle (with Global Sat Comms) showed to have a hi-lift jack.

Funny to hear guys on a FREELANDER forum dissing vehicles as Chelsea tractors, never see offroad - we drive something that is almost the definition of an offroad-styled non-offroader. It's even available in 2WD only.

Didn't they let the tyres down for the sand & pump them back up with the LR accessory on-board pump. Probably far too slow!

88 litre fuel tank, that's another 60 litres on the roof in Australia. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

As part of my 'side fixed window' modification, I am building a universal plate that will allow various 'bolt-on' products to be fitted. One of which is large plastic jerry cans. I have to mind the weight thou.

To be fair, I don’t see how you could use the hi-lift on the new Defender. Even on the later ‘old’ Defenders you really needed the adapter to distance the jack from the bodywork at the back. And at the front, the bumper stopped being strong enough to jack on somewhere around 1988! I still use the handle of my hi-lift as an extension bar for my wheel brace for when the nuts have been overtightened by a garage, but the jack itself hasn’t been out the shed in years! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto Previously: 2010 MY FL2 TD4e GS - Now gone at 199,500 miles, about 135,000 of them mine. ‘93 Defender 110 200TDi CSW ‘87 Defender 90 4 cyl Petrol ‘83 110 CSW V8 - best ever! Loads of JLR employees live around here, so often see factory registered Defenders, Range Rovers etc.
