United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Similar article in AutoCar with a bit more explanation.

It seems to confirm what I saw as VERY FEW people are involved.

Does anyone know of a video showing these robots in action?

A few years ago there was a fascinating video of BMW's i3 production plant, robotic arms everywhere.

I was invited for a factory tour at Halewood when they were building the Freelander 2.

Starting with huge presses that stamped out metal, then folded them. Robots assembled body. Then into paint. After paint it was married with a sled which housed the engine/suspension and running gear. Then wire loom and roof lining ...........finally wheels and start to drive off the production line. Those vehicles that did NOT start where pushed to one side for investigation.
Lots of everything else going on ........ a really interesting day.

I was at Halewood factory a few weeks ago as part of my job.

It is mostly automated, apart from assembly of the various major components to the chassis which only involves minimal manual work.

Interestingly Halewood still have a 14 plate Freelander 2 that is available as a pool car.

Good video.

That's why I carry 4 sand tracks. A couple of times been on soft sand with the car's underside on the sand as well, but with the tyres at 20 psi got through. Would have let them down to around 16 psi if needed. Let your tyres down for off road & let them down further for sand.

One thing I really like on the Freelander is the very wide window sills to rest your arm.
