Hi Gasman I had similar problems with my previous car Chrysler Grand Voyager I think this procedure to check would be the same, have you checked dc voltage to glow plugs should be around 12v but not less than 10volts

If you search for glow plugs there has been extensive discussions on the subject, re timing and operation I believe Alex did a good write up on the subject.

you can find a full set of wiring diagrams in the tech section but be careful there are two types of glow plug 12v and I think 5v, the older 12v system just has a relay in the engine fuse box and the newer 5v system has a glow plug control relay in the bulkhead area around the battery.

Long time ago since the diesel filter was replaced? Might be worth a try if so. |

Think the filter was changed around June last year. Haven't done many miles since.

I've just replaced my glow plugs, BUT discovered the supplied plugs are 12v with the 8mm head, whereas the old ones are 5v with 10mm head. Are they interchangeable, as the ones I got are allegedly for 07+ vehicles. Thanks for any help MY11 SD4 SE Auto |

I have just been doing research prior to changing my glow plugs. I came to the conclusion that chassis number AH are rated at 11 volts, chassis number BH are rated at 5 volts. The two systems are fundamentally different and not interchangeable.
