What is access mode and how is this set?

Access mode is when you press the suspension button down to lower the car, like accessing lower carparks

An associate, who should know, has told me that the buzzing ECU behind the fan controls the electronic throttle and the noise is the throttle motoring itself to its rest position after the engine has been turned off.

Many of you may say that a Diesel engine does not have a throttle but it does need one when the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) calls for more flow than will occour naturally, i.e. if the inlet manifold pressure is higher (due to boost pressure) than the pressure in the exhaust manifold (due to backpressure in the turbine and exhaust system) then EGR cannot flow from exhuast to inlet and hence into the engine; under these conditions, the inlet throttle is closed to lower the inlet manifold pressure until the required flow is achieved.

It's all about emission control (especially NOx) and does no affect full power operation.

Incidentally, my contact was involved in the pre-production durability of FL2 and reported that they ran 15 cars for a total of almost 2 million miles and had no roadside breakdowns. The only changes made by LR during the trials were software upgrades. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

Wondered what the noise was as well. High pitched whine, then a plastic sounding click (like a relay) which then repeats once or twice before finally going silent.

Interesting to note the time it takes for everything to actually shut itself down though. You can almost picture the Windows logging off screen going on beneath the bonnet...  FL2 TD4 XS manual, XS style pack, Martinique Blue

A pal in Aussie had a python crawl up under the bonnet after parking in his carport. Next day it unfortunatly died when my pal drove to town and back, but after parking the car again it began to be a bit iffy in the carport. On finding the stincking half grilled python under his bonnet, he now opens the bonnet when parking to avoid a repeat episode - Long story yeh, but I just wondered if these hissing Freelys may have a Monty under the bonnet
