I don't know what it does but its an ECU (electronic control unit) mounted in the airflow out of the fan cowl. I don't know why it runs on but it does.

'In the airflow' tells me its got somepower going through it so it may be something to do with the Diesel fuelling - has anybody reported it on a 3.2 I6?

I'll see what I can find out. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

the noise is normally something concerned with cooling the Turbo components - either by airflow or the oil.........

The other week when cleaning my car, I had the bonnet open and engine running, turned the car off and went to the front of the car, hearing the buzz i located it

It came from a small unit that is positioned at the top of the cooling fan with a wire running to it. It buzzed and then a small click when it stops buzzing

case solved by Inspector NP Very Happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

When I was on holiday the car wouldn’t start, flat battery, so I called Land Rover Assist. Problem was due to audio system not shutting down, software update and it was sorted (no problems since with a flat battery).

When the battery was charged the technician / mechanic tested the power drain on the battery during shutdown. It took almost 8 minutes after locking the car until the electrical system shut down to only a miniscule drain (probably the red LED on the dash flashing). You could see the voltage drain dropping in increments as each system shut down. He told me that this is normal and in some models such as the RRS it can take over 20 minutes for the system to shut down.
