I don't know what it does but its an ECU (electronic control unit) mounted in the airflow out of the fan cowl. I don't know why it runs on but it does.

the noise is normally something concerned with cooling the Turbo components - either by airflow or the oil......... |

same with mine, I always though it was the alarm arming itself.......or something technical/electronic like that. The dealer had no suggestions, went along with my theories |

When I was on holiday the car wouldn’t start, flat battery, so I called Land Rover Assist. Problem was due to audio system not shutting down, software update and it was sorted (no problems since with a flat battery).
