I'll be doing a mini service soon and have decided to replace the spark plugs.
I've been looking at a set of 6 PureSpark (Twin Iridium) Spark Plugs at £39 and OEM (FoMoCo) spark plugs from John Craddock at around £26 for 6.
Has anyone had any experience with the Twin Iridium plugs, or PureSpark spark plugs for that matter ?
The Twin Iridium plugs claim Improved throttle response, engine power and MPG , Less strain on the vehicle ignition system and
cleaner emissions and long service life.
ISTR buying expensive plugs for my old petrol V6 F1 as a recommendation over the original type, for the same sorts of reasons,but didn't notice any difference.
I don't mind paying an extra few quid over the OEM plugs, but is it really worth it ?

If I had to choose, I’d go standard. You won’t notice any difference with the more expensive ones. Mind you, I’ve had bad luck over the years with Ford plugs so I’d just go for something like Bosch ones. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

For reference here is what I would use

Denso 5344 IKH20 Iridium Power - single fine tip (This is what I use for both of my 3.2's a 2008 and a 2010)

or

Denso 4704 IKH20TT Iridium TT - twin tip (This is what my friend is using in his 3.2 and what I will be switching to when I change plugs next)

I do change plugs every 50,000 miles

Ford or Volvo supplied, it’s a very low stressed engine you don’t need plugs designed for turbo engine. Regards

Land Rover original part number is LR005483

And its a fine wire Iridium sparkplug and I think that its made by Denso but marked FOMOCO

The first part number I listed (5344) is a very similar sparkplug but without the FOMOCO marking

If the Land Rover part is cheaper than the Denso 5344 part I would get the Land Rover Part.


As for the Denso 4704 this is a twin tip iridium plug and Volvo did switch to this style plug for the 3.2. Note: Land Rover switched to the 2.0T

I did installed the Denso Platinum TTs approximately 27,000 kms ago (just about a year ago) and found them well worth it. So far best bang for my buck and very responsive.
