United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Narvik Black
Freelander 2 2014 main screen display

Hi all.
I've recently purchased a freelander 2 2014, unfortunately It has come with an electrical issue. I noticed after my vehicle battery went flat after a few days. So when I lock the vehicle, after a short time the hazard neon led comes on. About 30 secs later the main entertainment system display comes on with the L2 logo. After 20 second the display goes off and a minute later the neon on the hazard button goes out. Now this will continue for as long as the vehicle is locked. Has anyone come across this problem ??. Many thanks

I was quite surprised as I've had a 2013 HSE model about 4 years ago and didn't have a single probably, so it made sense to get another one as the other half really wanted one again....I'm thinking it's either a good auto electrical, 4x4 specialist or even JLR

It could be something simple like dirty contacts on a fuse or relay.

Might be worth removing and re-inserting all fuses and relays to see if that has any effect.

Also check the battery negative cable is secure, clean, and grounded properly.

Are you sure that the car is locking properly, could it be a central locking problem?

Screens and electrical power do react to central locking.

Cycling of central locking will happen if car get a false unlock signal with no accompanying 'door ajar' signal as you enter car. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Just my tuppeny'ha'penny's worth, but about 5 years ago, my MY13 handbrake light wouldn't go out on the dash after I had double locked the car. It would stay on permanently, all through the night, and whilst not a major current drain, enough for me to get it booked in and investigated under warranty.

They actually completed the work while I waited, and it was something to do with the body control module, but not anything that need replacing, just resetting.
