Do that down under & you end up with 3 Huntsman spiders in the car!

Very Happy indeed.

I used to have a few pet spiders in my wood workshop back in north Hampshire. The largest I have ever seen in the U.K., but as far as I can tell quite harmless who would pop out to see what I was doing, and then go back into their hidey holes when the sawdust started flying. However, their wider family would give you a bit of a surprise when you went out in the car the day after a dump trip with garden trimmings and one drops down on a web from behind the sun visor!

It seems the Internet knows about them. They were originally thought to have come to the U.K. when the local canal was used for shipping. It was suggested that a barge of bananas had some hitch hikers on board which bred with local spiders and gave the U.K. the ”Giant House Spider”, or Basingstoke Censored as we knew them.

Nothing like you guys have in Oz, but for us Brits something to behold, or crap yourself over depending on your level of arachnophobia Smile

Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

Gremlins in the FL2 today... Off to work this morning and the “tailgate open” warning came on, when I started it up. Got out and shut the tailgate only to have it click several times and unlock itself as I was getting back into the car. Tried completely locking and unlocking it with the fob several times but while it would lock ok from outside, every time I got into the car the same series of clicking and the tailgate would open. Eventually I gave up and drove to work, having manually switched the inside lights to ‘off’ as they stay on if the tailgate is open. Tried again to sort it at the garage while filling with diesel, but no joy. At work I cleared six months accumulation of error codes (none of which seem to relate to the tailgate issue) and miraculously the tailgate stayed shut when I fired the car up again.

Then tonight as I left work, the car stalled on me as I started off. Restarted it and drove on out, only to find that the radio didn’t want to talk to me. Bluetooth to phone was ok, screen was lit, but no radio or cd options available. Pulled into a lay-by and a switch off/switch on cleared the problem. These cars really don’t like a stall followed by a quick restart - the systems seem to need to follow a proper slow boot sequence!

I guess it is one of the joys of LR ownership, the little foibles each one has to keep you on your toes! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Jeff,

whilst i understand what you wanted to do ......... I do not think the frame on the front is 'supported' by the 'crash-structure' of the vehicle. If you hit anything ......... the bar will survive ....... the vehicle will not.
I am ignoring the weight on the nose !

thumbs down !

I did a nice little journey today.

Portsmouth to Manchester.
A day’s work In Manc.
Manchester to Portsmouth.

Quite a few hours, 500 miles, full of delays with average speed camera laden smart motorways, miles and miles of road works making more useless smart motorways, non drivers combining their cars all over the place in the early cold morning fog but I was comfortable, some good sounds and the Argonut didn’t miss a beat. Good old girl Smile

Fitted some smoked side repeaters from Powerful UK.

Only took 30 seconds per side and subjectively improves the appearance Smile More so if it wasn't so dirty!

Looks great imo. Good to see these in situ as I've recently swapped out my side vents from atlas silver to gloss black (car is santorini black) and was considering matching the side repeaters too. Now even more tempted to order a pair...

Washed off the crud and salt accumulated from the m27, M3, a34, m40, m42, m6 and m62 (and the reverse coming back) on Wednesday.

Given the reputation for Land Rover rust, I was quite surprised to see the car still there underneath the white and black crust over the paint Smile

Also checked the new gasket I fitted on the high stop light with the pressure washer. No leaks today... woohoo!

Forgot to mention, the washer bottle is huge on that thing. I got a message that the washer fluid was low this week, so bought 5 litres to top it up, pop some in the missus’s SLC and leave the remnants in the car washing cabinet. The freelander took the lot, and it wasn’t empty to start with!

Indeed Laughing The fake bonnet vents were the only part of the Dynamic kit I wasn't too sure about but I really like them these days! The car doesn't go off-roading; it's just something safe/comfortable to commute in all weathers and I quite like that the Dynamic extras give it that "bigger car/FFRR" look.

I replaced the mirrorlights with LED-units (12V/3W). Now there is much more light in the dark with less consumpion. To remove the old it was a little bit tricky but with the information on this forum I found out that a small kniveblade works better than a crewdriver.
