Bigger tyres

Hi, I have chance of some new 265 60 r18 tyres and was wondering if they would fit my freelander or if I would need to fit spacers? Appreciate any advice

Short answer is yes, they will fit. HOWEVER, they do rub the back of the inner wheel arch if turning on full lock - unless you take it very slowly. I also have 30mm spacers fitted , although they're not strictly necessary but do help clear the struts more..

Thanks for advice, I notice you have raised your FL is this a requirement as well to be able to fit the tyres?

No, it's not necessary to lift the vehicle. I fitted the larger tyres after the lift was completed as the standard 235/60/18's suddenly looked lost in the wheel arches.

Looks it, but trust me , it's an illusion due to the camera angle . Always reverse up to it using the parking sensors and there's always enough space to comfortably walk behind my motor.

hello, use tire As far as 255 / 60R18 on my freelander fits perfectly, but for very little scraping, a member of our group in Brazil can install the 265 / 60R18 (HT) tire and it worked without scraping.

I would like bigger tyres but am put off by having to faffle with the Insurance Company. Anyone else successfully insured a Freely2 on larger than spec tyres?

I'm insured through Adrian Flux. Covers all my mods,HST body kit, 40/50 lift, spacers, rims. tyres, bonnet vents , underbody protection etc. Very good price too - cheaper than when it was standard.

Jumping on an older thread here but has anyone got 265/60/18s fitted without issue or will they definitely rub without spacers?
Thanks

I have 255 on Freelander rims & there is 4.4mm gap between the rear tyres & the struts. 265 might be pushing your luck. You would need to calculate the percentage of rim width to total width of tyre. Maybe the tyre pulls in just enough.

It you are using Evoque rims they offset 10mm more than Freelander rims, so a bit more to play with.

If you have a 5th 255 you will need to raise the boot floor by 6mm. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

These tyres would be for my 18” FL2 rims, think you might be right about pushing my luck. Will have to do some measurements.

Just trying the lazy way first and seeing if anyone can confirm they have this size fitted Laughing
