If you are wearing out the outside edge then get a Tyre that is Asymmetric

I had similar issues with the Cross Climates but really poor wear on the nearside Outer edge. Young chap at the tyre fitters pointed out it was due to the camber we have and lots of roundabouts unfortunately. He had issues with tyres he had fitted and after checking all that may have been a possible cause proved negative. I couldn’t fault the Cross Climates other than shoulder wear and need to change at 26k miles. |

If you have TPMS you will be surprised just how much tyre pressure changes from a cold winter morning to a hot afternoon after driving for an hour.

I have to say mine doesnt seem to have any issue with outside edge wear? I change the tyres front to back (but not side to side) every 5k miles and they are wearing evenly. Currently on General Grabber AT3, previously Goodyear Efficient Grip which also wore evenly, just too quickly! Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948 2014 Orkney grey Freelander SD4 GS. 2004 Zambezi silver Discovery 2 Td5 (Gone) 1963 Surf blue Morris Mini Minor Super de Luxe (my little toy) |

If you are wearing the outside and the inside edge then you want a tyre that has solid ribs in the area that is wearing prematurely

Near side front tyre wearing on outer edge are caused normally by roundabouts. both fronts tyres wearing on outside Normally

The Maximum inflation pressure for your Cross Climates should be 50 or 51 PSI. I would leave a little room for the pressure to increase as you drive and the Tyre's gets hot and the pressure increase. Having said that 42 PSI on a cold Tyre on a mild day shouldn't go above 50 PSI even if you are driving 100 MPH for hours. Check the pressure before and after you drive and I suspect that you only find a 3 or 4 PSI increase. The important point is that you don't like the way your Freel2 handles with the high pressure and the Cross Climates. If I lived closer I'd let you drive my LR2 and you would stop thinking that extreme wet tire are the answer and you would likely be looking for something like what I suggested above. Right now I am running Michelin Latitude Tour HP 235 60 18 on my LR2, I got these with some wheels that I bought. They are really nice tires But they cost about $250 each or $1000 for a set I typically find something that I like on special for $600 or $700 for a set of Tires Like this one https://simpletire.com/nokian-235-60r18-t4...gKO7fD_BwE Good luck Paul |

Russian made Nokians.................that's kinda disturbing! I once bought Hercules for a previous 4X4 and they were fine upto about 50% left and then they were pure garbage. I really like the Nokian brand but have shifted away from them as they are a premium priced brand. |
