Hi all. Decided to pimp out the car a bit and am going to replace the Alpine head unit with a new model using the Incartec kit with the amp bypass cable.

My understanding is the speakers don't need re-routed as the kit hooks everything back up to the fibre network. There's a fair few people here who have done it and not needed to rewire the speakers, it's the sub and amp thing I don't understand. Again those who have done it said they don't miss the sub but I'd like to know my options.

I'd say to keep the sub if possible , I would imagine without it the sound would be a little lightweight . Are you not happy with the Alpine system ? I've had it in two Fl2's and found it to sound pretty good for a factory fitted system , perhaps changing the front speakers/tweeters may help before replacing the headunit .Keep us updated on whatever route you take .

I'm happy enough with the sound but I like DAB and I stream everything else plus use Google Maps so I'd like a head unit with Android Auto. Plus I like toys.

Interestingly I've just found this kit which suggests it keeps the cars amp so I'd hope that also means the sub. I've emailed them to ask if this is the case

Ok, InCarTec have got back to me about how to deal with a new amp for the sub. Another £250 kit....

So the one from Car Audio (made by Connects2) does not need a new amp - it uses the existing one so keeps the sub. Needs an extra parking sensor module for another £49 but that's far better than £500 before head unit plus with the kit you don't need the long amp bypass cable so don't need to lift all the flooring or headlining. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
