I think the AUS have their own approval rating on tow bars, and when off roading with a off road trailer they need something more substantial

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

I set to at the weekend and replaced the 12N & 12S sockets with the euro 13pin. Quite a simple job and much neater. My new caravan came with the 13 pin system so it made sense really.

I must say I was impressed though with the LR 7 pin units I took off. The whole of the back of the socket area around the screw connectors was filled with clear silicone. I doubt I would ever have had any water ingress troubles. It made disconnecting them a bit more difficult but was certainly a testament to the quality of the LR loom build quality.

I wondered how water tight it was when driving through Tong lake, though i still had a little bit of water gain entry via the lift up flaps on each socket. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi Sievester

Nice pics, like the offroad trailer.

Out of interest, who is the roof rack made by? I've been looking at this, and wondering, as I haven't seen any made to fit the FL2.

The rack is by Frontrunner from South Africa. http://www.frontrunner.co.za/vehicle_prods/landrover.html Part number is down the bottom. The disco3.co.uk guys like these racks for their D3s too. The roof limit is 75kg and the rack weighs 22kg so you can put a good 50kg up there if you wanted to. Fairly quiet, I am very pleased with it.

Here is one filthy, salt covered and hard worked rear today. I've done a lot of difficult miles today in , what for most people have been impassable conditions. Wow. That is all I can say! GGS and HDC have been a breeze.

Anyhow, off topic, rear showing LR detachable tow bar, fitted by LR, removed on a HST. I think this is a neat option with no bumper cut outs visible. There is a slight cut out 'underneath', but not visible from the rear:

Does anybody know the part number for this towbar please? Thumbs Up

OK I have started a new thread about the Brinks Towbar

I have two vehicles, one with a Witter removable towbar and one with a Brinks and without being biased, I know which I prefer Mr. Green
