Roof Rails and Wheel Centre Caps fitted

Well fitted the roof rails whilst it was in for a service with a good friend and local mechanic. Got them from Powerfuluk and they supply all the bits to help fit them as well, cant say it was easy as I followed others advice and fitted the cross bar to the rails first, secret is not to tighten the cross bar until its fixed to the roof, you need a bit of flex to get it to locate in the right spots. Overall looks good although the cross bar covers were an issue, they are sided and they sent me two right end ones...

I also fitted the new wheel centre caps to replace the bland plain ones, looks much neater now. I only fitted the bars as I have a large top box for when we go away so it was either get shot of it or fit the rails, actually they suit the car I think.

Be careful with those centre caps. I bought a set of black and silver ones. They were ok for a month or so then after a spray of wheel cleaner and a power washing most of the paint came off. So back to the plain silver ones.

Watch out that the screw in the centre support holding the rail on dose not fall out. Photos down this page https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic31435.html Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks for the link, just had a good read and will keep an eye on those screws Thumbs Up
Regarding the centre caps, I will take on board the advice about cleaning them, but I have kept the originals as I doubt these will look great for very long or am I just a good old fashioned pessimist 2014 Freelander 2 XS TD4

Have you stuck the end caps of the rails on with sealant? I lost one front cover 2 days after fitting, lost a second one a month or so later. Bought a set of 4 covers and now have all stuck on with black rtv sealant. Thumbs Up Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

My rear ones never clipped on perfectly so I stuck them on. Thought the front ones were ok but lost one! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The front offside one was a crappy fit so I used the black sealant they provided to secure it, I think I will do the rest as well thanks for the heads up on this. 2014 Freelander 2 XS TD4
