United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HST Auto Barolo Black
freelander 2 HST TDI Automatic (2008)

Edited due to me being thick
Hiya all,
It was ‘Dave’ Pedro’ and ‘BossBob’ that helped me last time.
I’m a ‘newbie’ and not quite sure if I’m doing this right.
My 2008 Freelander 2 HST TDI Automatic is cutting out whilst I drive. It was suggested that my problem could be one of these. ‘A faulty fuel pump, a faulty fuel filter or a faulty crankshaft sensor’
I did some extra research on the web and the most popular fault was a ‘faulty fuel filter’ so I went with that ….. WRONG.
When I took the car in to the mechanic yesterday, he first read the ‘fault codes’ as BossBob’ said he would. They were:
Po489 = EGR circuit low … don’t know what that means.
Po42e =EGR stuck open … don’t know what that means.
And …. get this
Po336 = Crankshaft sensor
Po 336 = Crankshaft sensor
The ‘o’ might be a ‘0’ …. Not sure
So, the fuel sensor was sent back and a new Crankshaft sensor has been ordered … now all I have to do is wait for an appointment to take my car back in and see if that does the trick.
I can’t do the job myself as I am unwell (terminal) so everything is the hands of my mechanic.
Many thanks for all your help
Marcus

Edited due to me saying something else that was wrong and i was corrected by Alex. the problem is the [b]CRANKSHAFT sensor

Thank you Alex,
Yes it looks like the problem is the crankshaft sensor according to the mechanic, the fuel filter has been sent back and was not needed.
Thank you very much for answering,
Marcus

I have mentioned the crankshaft sensor, in a way as a correction and to be sure, because in the first post you've kept saying camshaft sensor.
And the P0336 error is for the crankshaft sensor, not camshaft... Very Happy

Please don't.... Laughing Laughing
You'll confuse the users even more....
P0336 = Crankshaft !!!
Not crankcase. And neither camshaft... Laughing Laughing

EDITED P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor - A Circuit Range/Performance. Alex

Thanks Alex,
Just re-read what the mechanic wrote, his writing isn't clear, of course it's the crankshaft sensor, my mistake and I didn't realize the difference when you corrected me ...... sorry.
Thanks for the other fault code meanings! Bow down

Many thanks,
Marcus
