What rack is that? I've looked and none are ever quoted as fitting the FL2. Bought one anyway and wasn't happy with the security in terms of it not falling off! Plus it stopped the rear wiper working and partially covered the reg plate which I imagine isn't legal. Would love to find one that fits! FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues 2019 DS. Terribly unreliable. Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed.... Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎 Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be… |

A rack looks like it would be a lot easier.

Mine is just an old Paddy Hopkirk that I've had for years and adapted to fit every car I've had since. It's sat on the rear screen with four rubber suckers, two (rubber protected) strap hooks going over top of tailgate and one each to the lower sides of the screen. The wiper is unusable when on, but I could've fitted the bottom section below the wiper (just one thing I didn't get around to). When the bike is on, I tie on a number plate (fitted to two old lengths of inner tube). No need for a light board as all lights are uncovered and in full view. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:- Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip, Bluetooth Music Streaming Module. |

mine is basically the same as yours Ron, bought from Decathlon several years ago for about £50, secures with 2 straps over the top, 2 to the sides and 2 to the bottom. I have a basic light board which then hangs off the back as due to the size of bikes I generally carry the lights are obscured. Cant use the rear wiper though but then you cant see much through the mesh of bike frames, wheel spokes and straps anyway.

Yeah I strap it down on the chain stay to the two anchor points nearest the boot lid. Doesn't go anywhere then. Freelander 2 XS 2013 Freelander SE 2004 (Gone) Freelander GS 2002 (Gone) |

You could stick some clear protective tape over that small area just to keep it nice. Regards

A roof rack could be a good option. It looks like they'll be easier to secure. I've got a standard mountain bike on order, I'm thinking about getting an E bike next, I don't know if I'd want to put a 22kg bike up there.
