Over the Bank Holiday went from Swansea to Liverpool to visit our daughter in Uni then on to Folkstone via the De Haviland Museum and Battle of Britain Memorial. Crossed to Boulogne for a couple of days stocking up on things. Visited Ypres and Tyne Cot on Sunday, home Monday. 1000 (more) miles without any issues att all, car was brilliant.

Turned up at Sunningdale Heath Golf Club for the monthly "Whisky Day" roll-up for a 10.30 start. Hissing down with more threatened at mid-day together with lightning so I disqualified myself from starting. The other lads were delaying the start but I HAVE to take my wife and girlfriend to Gatwick at 2ish for their girlie week on the Costa del Sol, so I wouldn't have got the round in anyway. (As I type, the rain is trying to break in through the conservatory roof!) I've poured concrete in the rain for most of my life to put bread on table and pay the mortgage; I'm certainly not going to PLAY in the rain for fun!

Today I finally got round to glueing a replacement switch into the boot lid handle, had to mill out the plastic to make the waterproof button fit under the rubber cover without it making a bulge but it’s done.

Took the day off and drove mine over the "County Lines" to Avon Dasset Country Park, and gave the Haldex a good work out ascending the beacons. Spectacular views of 4 Counties today....in the distance you can see the behemoth that is JLR Gaydon Design & Engineering Centre.

Then back down to Banbury for my free IMO HD Proshield wash to get all the mud off the chassis and tyres... There was a fair rake of it, as we had torrential downpours here yesterday and even in Mud/Ruts there was a fair amount of tyre slippage getting up to the crest....

 MY13 HSE Lux.......faultless since new.

Took me and the other half for a very pleasant and scenic drive around the Isle of Mull, really nice place and somewhere everyone should at least visit once.

I was talking to someone the other day about disc/rotor replacements and I remembered back in the early 80's I had a Ford Capri and the discs were a bit corroded. At the time it was fairly common to have your discs skimmed on a lathe and I had a word with the guy who ran the local garage in the village about where to send them He said "why bother? Just get some grinding pads, I often fit them to customers cars but people don't even notice". I had never heard of them at the time so he showed me some and they looked like normal pads but with a couple of strips of grinding paste material embedded in the surface. He got me some the next day and I fitted them and within a few miles the discs looked as good as new.
I have never come across them since. Has anyone else? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Yes, but not seen them for years.......probably back around the Capri days Laughing

Didn’t know they were still available, they obviously won’t cure warped discs (not even mildly warped) but they will clean a very rusty disc like new. Regards

David
