I bought a set of Whispbars that bolt in to the roof so are nice and permanent. Have been very happy with them so far. I wasn't keen on the ones that clamped round the roof/door opening long term. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

You'll need grub screws, I think that's what they are called. Essentially they screw into the holes in the roof creating the new mounting points for the rack feet. Or at least the Whispbars did. But otherwise yes, lift, drill, screw, fit. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Says they are "clamps" - not sure if that's what you're looking for. I would consider clamps to be ones that fit around the body. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

yeh looks like your right.... the description doesn't really match the images on any of the places ive looked, so looks like clamps rather than bolt in

I'm also using Whispbars. I bought a pair cheap off ebay and separately bought the feet that screw onto the roofline. All fairly straightforward, although the supplied grub screw was far too long. I replaced them with shorter stainless M6 set screws so I could use a spanner to fit them rather than a hex key.

I've also considered buying the Wisperbars https://bit.ly/2DB0rL6 , but they suggest that these roof bars are not to be fitted to a Freelander with a sunroof.
I think the best bet for me are the Cruz rails https://bit.ly/2QnXj9N ------------------------------------------------------------- 1965 Series IIa Safari LWB White - gone 1982 RR 2 door Sahara dust - gone 2000 Freelander 1 3 door white gold - gone 1995 Discovery 1 200Tdi Biaritz Blue - gone 2009 FL2 TD4 HSE Stornoway Grey |

Not for me. I quite like the integrated look of the Land Rover roof solutions (Thule). Guy Pensa

Not what I'm after guys, I'm meaning roof rails, not cross bars. I've already got universal cross bars with bike carriers attached that will clamp onto the longitudinal rails. I'm looking for folks experiences fitting the rails and what the quality is like. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
