Between my house and the English Channel there is less than half a mile of public road which ends on the beach, therefore I can only drive north. It follows, therefore, that I should only pay half the VED as most people can drive in any direction. Do you think it's worth me writing to the DVLA for a discount?

No . Move to the BD3 and BD4 postcodes . They are like a sort of distopian Monaco type principality. Car tax is not generally payable , neither is insurance , MoT testing or other such financial irritations. You can view life in this wonderful haven most Mondays by tuning into “Police Interceptors” or “Traffic Cops” . The financial benefits don’t just end with lack of taxation . A two year old full fat RR vogue can be bought for £5000 , and you can choose any registration you want .. Go on , you know it makes sense Rolling with laughter 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

My working base was in BD3 just off the Thornbury roundabout . About the only thing I miss about working ( apart from feeding sausage rolls to the skewbald horses that sometimes came into the car park when the barrier was broken ) , was watching Plod’s bi-monthly ANPR sting , you couldn’t make it up Bob , everything from clapped out old Censored , through dubiously pimped Rangies right up to Italian super cars.We saw them all detained in the cinema carpark to be recovered . If I ever develop a video game it will be called. “ MQ9 Reaper - Operation BD3 “ . In this game DVLA have linked their database to the USAF in Nevada ... 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I visited SCO only last year ............... roads no different to what they have in Cornwall/Devon.

That’s odd, as we moved down here from Essex/Norfolk three years ago and I was (and am) presently surprised at how well the Cornish roads, even the minor ones are kept, hardly any potholes at all and those that appear locally are attended to very promptly, the roads back in Essex and rural Norfolk are absolutely diabolical and best driven on by Tractors! Shocked Regards
