The photo is taken at the Nurburgring Carousel, and it reminded me of my drive around there in my Vauxhall Victor (FD 2000) Estate about 1969. You could pay to for a lap around it, and along with many other daytrippers I set off with 4 adalts and 3 children in the car, needless to say the Estate ran out of suspension travel on the Carousel. Great day out and a fantastic straight down off the top of the circuit.

What the Censored are LR testing the new Defender out at the Nurburgring for?!! Shocked

I’ve already seen enough photos of the test mule / publicity photo camouflage cars wearing worrying large wheels and disappointingly low profile tyres to start getting concerned. The one in the photo above seems to be on something sub 45 profile for Pete’s sake! Is this going to be another one for the townies? Big Cry

Almost sounds convincing.

Another JLR spoof.

The window would NEVER be left down. Also staff would never show photos that close, all staged.

Teaser for the US market.

I've yet to see one in the flesh in RHD format. The ones pootling around these parts are all LHD and with Belgian registration plates on!

Of course all these 'SPY' photos and sightings are publicity shots, I am sure that if I wanted to disguise a car I would paint it grey and not cover it in curly patterned wallpaper.

I don't mind though as it makes them easier to spot out on the road.

Years ago we came across a couple of undisguised Evoques on the motorway before they had been annouced, my wife said "What an odd squashed design, surely nobody's going to buy a car with a letterbox slot back window."

And I agreed!

If it hadn't been such an extreme design, I doubt if we would have noticed them amongst the other traffic.

I suspect a few undisguised new defenders have been out and about somewhere. (painted grey?) FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

We always used the “distraction” camouflage on prototypes, somewhere I have a piccy of the Disco 4 covered in the stuff which came to our track for a bit of alternator splash testing (I was filming with “lipstick” cameras to show splash patterns under hood).

Wouldn’t surprise me if it was genuine, we used to get all sorts of peeps wander up when stopped asking why our car was covered in wierd patterned fablon Laughing Regards

I don't know. Anything being tested abroad in Europe is generally LHD and using Belgian plates...the L551's that were used for dealer sales training in February were the same.

The YouTube video posted by LR Nut represents a similar vehicle to the ones seen over here heading in to and out of Gaydon quite regularly, so I have no reason to disbelieve what he has posted.
